How repo rate affects property

As of January 30, 2025, the repo rate in South Africa is 7.50%
This is down from 7.75% in November 2024

  • A lower repo rate means a lower prime lending rate, which can lead to lower interest rates on home loans
  • This can make it more affordable to buy a property, especially for first-time buyers
  • Lower interest rates can also increase demand for property, which can lead to higher prices.
